History
.
Right from the start the main task was the development and production of system tracks which fully met a wide variety of different requirements much better than all existing tracks. Following its establishment in 1955, the German Federal Army was equipped with US American tracked vehicles only. Therefore, new system tracks were first developed for Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV), tank hunters, howitzers, and missile carriers. The great breakthrough was achieved with the development of the Diehl System Track for the main battle tank (MBT) Leopard 1. This track is the first one which has been equipped with replaceable rubber pads acc. to the patented Quick-Fit® principle. The Quick-Fit® principle eases the handling remarkably because bolts and screws are no more required. The new Diehl System Track allowed the main battle tank to be used in all terrains as well as on road. Diehl tracks created new benchmarks with respect to safety and durability. In the meantime all tracked vehicles of the German Army, including the Leopard 2, are equipped with Diehl tracks. Furthermore, more than 100 different tracks for a wide variety of vehicles worldwide have been developed so far and taken into service. New challenges require new solutions, thus we present our new product lines: Diehl Lightweight Tracks, Diehl Global Tracks and Diehl Band Tracks. |
